Handmade Southwestern Terracotta Pitcher by Polly, Boulder CO

Handmade terracotta pitcher signed “Polly, Boulder, CO.” The shape and detailing have a warm Southwestern feel, with a sculptural handle and a whimsical appliqué featuring a small animal skull and pastel desert blooms. The interior is finished in a soft lavender-blue glaze that contrasts beautifully with the matte clay body. The piece has a very tactile, organic quality throughout — visible hand-building marks, subtle variations in the clay, and a one-of-a-kind studio pottery character that mass-produced ceramics just do not have. Please note: this pitcher is not fully watertight for long-term storage. Water slowly seeps through the terracotta over extended periods, similar to an olla or water spike, even after a liquid quartz treatment. It works well for serving water at dinner or short-term use, but I would not recommend leaving liquid in it continuously. It would also make a fantastic decorative piece, vase, or shelf display.
