This beautifully constructed reversible mourning brooch features a preserved swirl of blonde hair beneath glass on one side and a sepia photographic portrait of a little girl on the other. The brooch swivels within its intertwined rope or vine motif frame, allowing either side to be displayed, which is a more elaborate and desirable Victorian construction. The warm gold-tone frame is gold-filled, typical of quality 19th-century mourning jewelry. Original pin assembly is present and functional.
