This is a hairline engraving chisel used for extremely fine line engraving, such as on silver accessories and feathers.

This is a commercially available red chisel that has been shaped and polished. It has been hardened and tempered.

It has a slight radius (curve) applied, making it suitable for curved engraving.
★While you can engrave straight lines with a curved chisel,
it is difficult to engrave curves beautifully with a straight chisel that does not have a radius.

You can use it as is, but
the blade edge will dull with use and become difficult to engrave with.
