Vintage Gerz W Germany Original Gerzit Cobalt Blue Punch Bowl Set 6 Castles Cups
Gerz / Gerzit
This item ships in TWO separate boxes. You will receive two different tracking numbers. Up for sale is a beautiful vintage German ceramic stoneware punch bowl (Bowletopf) set complete with its original figural grape-finial lid and 6 matching handles cups. This heavy, traditional set features a gorgeous deep cobalt blue glazed body offset by cream-colored raised relief panels depicting scenic historical fortresses. The wrap-around artwork highlights iconic regional landmarks including Burg Cochem, Pfalz, Maus, and Ehrenfels. The handles and upper lid sections are highly decorated with intricate sculpted grape clusters and sprawling vine foliage. Historically, this set was crafted in the Westerwald pottery region by the renowned firm Simon Peter Gerz I. The underside of the mugs proudly bears the classic, brown-stamped Original Gerzit Gerz W. Germany style circle logo featuring their iconic triangle stein mark. This official stamp places production squarely within the Cold War era (circa 1965 to 1989). Gerz is highly celebrated among stein collectors for bringing traditional German hospitality and folklore aesthetics into mid-century home serveware. These sets were famously designed to brew and serve traditional Maibowle (sweet woodruff spring punch) or warm, spiced Glühwein (mulled wine) during seasonal autumn wine festivals and winter Christmas markets. The glossy cobalt blue glaze remains exceptionally bright and free of chips, structural cracks, or repairs.
