What's on in June and into July:

Dates for June:

 Sunday 3rd Meeting for Worship and Children’s Meeting 10.30 followed by
 Local Meeting for Business, 12 noon. Business will include some membership matters;  an update from the Quaker Visibility group; placing of donated triptychs in the Meeting House; Poppy wreaths for Remembrance day and a discussion on Diversity.
 
Tuesday 5th Interfaith group.   ‘What is...The Bible’ talk by Rev. John Goddard 6.30 to 7.30 in ‘Our Lady of Compassion parish Room, 2 Castle Street.  See attached poster.
 
Thursday 7th  1.30 pm.  Our dear Friend Judith Effer’s funeral will be at Barton Woodland Burial ground, starting with the burial. It will be a secular ceremony, although it will be much like a Q funeral in that it will consist of an introduction followed by silence with folk invited to speak if they feel so moved.
There will be food afterwards, provided by caterers
Anyone is welcome to attend, but please could you let Ernest know (unless you gave me your name this morning), preferably today, if you are intending to come, for catering purposes. ernesteffer@waitrose.com or 01799 523010
There will be a Memorial Meeting at some point in the future, date to be decided.
 
Sunday 10th Meeting for Worship and Children’s Meeting 10.30.

Business will include among other items - an application for membership, experiences of Yearly Meeting, a workshop on mental health in our Meetings and an activity/report from Quaker Life Representative Council.  Attenders are most welcome. Come and experience an Area meeting in one of our older Meeting Houses and meet Friends from the other Meetings.

Sunday 17th Meeting for Worship and Children’s’ meeting 10.30 am.
Followed by   Bring and Share lunch 12.00
 
Saturday 23rd Amnesty Collection in the Town centre
 
Sunday 24th Meeting for Worship 10.30am. No official Children’s Meeting this week.
Parents are welcome to use the facilities in the Long Room
 
Wednesday 27th Experiment with Light group 10.30am. in the Meeting House
 
Thursday 28th Book Group ‘The Beginning of Spring’ by Penelope Fitzgerald.  At Christine Lelliott’s home, 47 Debden Road
 
Saturday 30th Regional Gathering Family Day at the Meeting House. This is an Area Meeting event hosted by our Meeting.
The Theme will be Peace and Education
Please book the date and support the Meeting.  More information on the attachment.
The Gathering is for everyone and begins at 11.00 with Meeting for Worship at 11.00. This will be followed by workshops and fun activities. Bring your own lunch but drinks and later tea will be provided by us.

Sunday July 22nd July Area Meeting with no agenda at Bardfield Meeting House  A chance to talk and get to know friends across our Area Meeting. Our business meetings are so busy and time to chat over lunch is limited .Bring your own lunch and take time to have prolonged conversations over a walk or just sit in or outside the Meeting House.
 
Saturday 4th August 2pm at the Meeting House Memorial meeting to give thanks for the life of our dear friend Margaret Slee
